The Rufous Hummingbird is the smallest bird breeding at latitudes of 58° to 60°. Their annual migration to Cordova, Alaska, from Mexico, occurs generally toward the latter part of the third week in April. This year, the first little frenetic bodies were spotted at my house on the Eyak River April 28th. This shot was taken today, May 6, sitting on the rails of my front deck.
