Mother, mother ocean, I have heard you call
Wanted to sail upon your waters since I was three feet tall
You've seen it all, you've seen it all

Watched the men who rode you switch from sails to steam
And in your belly you hold the treasures few have ever seen
Most of 'em dream, most of 'em dream

Yes I am a pirate, two hundred years too late
The cannons don't thunder, there's nothin' to plunder
I'm an over-forty victim of fate
Arriving too late, arriving too late

I've done a bit of smugglin', Ive run my share of grass
I made enough money to buy Miami,
but I pissed it away so fast
Never meant to last, never meant to last

And I have been drunk now for over two weeks
I passed out and I rallied and I sprung a few leaks
But I got stop wishin', got to go fishin'
Down to rock bottom again
Just a few friends, just a few friends

(instrumental)

I go for younger women, lived with several awhile
Though I ran 'em away, they'd come back one day
Still could manage to smile
Just takes a while, just takes a while

Mother, mother ocean, after all the years I've found
My occupational hazard being my occupation's just not around
I feel like Ive drowned, gonna head uptown
I feel like Ive drowned, gonna head uptown.

Lyrics to: 'A Pirate Looks at 40,' by Jimmy Buffett

Edit notes: As my daughter and I topped the hill, the inlet came into view. I saw this incredible color and light on the ocean -- between the storm passing and the storm on the way, & I just couldn't get to the shore quickly enough.

Nature is amazing.

I attempted noise removal. Sharpened and light contrast adjustment.

Its dark, yes ... but it was dark and forbidding and the air was so ... heavy. The ocean only seems to get this color this time of year I am told because of the light right now. I believe it. I was amazed with the shades of blue and aqua last year about October.

We do have a beautiful Mother. Even when she is at her angriest and most violent, she is beyond compare.

Gorgeous shot, sweetie.

Every time I wish for something new to surprise me ... she does and I can never do it justice, but I have a good time shooting :)

I don't see how you could get any better images than the ones you capture. You have a gift.

tis true it is dark hon, but the detail you got in the suns rays thru the clouds and such is awesome. and the darker parts give it that much more mystery. Honestly i think you captured the sea perfectly...in my opinion the mystery of unknown is exactly what the sea is because we never know what it will do next :)

great piece.

I think the darkness of the shot really is what provides the drama.
